The best way to do this is to use a wire brush to scrape off any built-up grease and grime. Be sure to get all of the nooks and crannies! Once you've given the inside of the firebox a good scrubbing, it's time to move on to cleaning the grates.

If your grates are cast iron, start by scrubbing them with soap and water using a stiff brush. If they're porcelain-coated or stainless steel, you can skip the soap - just scrub them with water and a stiff brush.

Once you've removed all of the food residues from your grates, it's time to give them a good rinse with water.

Now comes the fun part: seasoning your grates!

Seasoning cast iron grates help to prevent rust and make them easier to clean in the future.

First, heat your grill on high for 15 minutes with all of the vents open. Then turn off the burners and let the grill cool for 10 minutes before wiping down your grates with a paper towel or rag soaked in vegetable oil.

Don't forget to season your Flavorizer bars (if your grill has them) while you're at it! Once you're finished seasoning, reassemble your grill. Be sure to put everything back in its proper place - you don't want anything falling through any cracks while you're cooking!

The final step is to give your grill a good wipe-down on the outside.

Use a vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 1 part water) or soapy water (dish soap is fine) and a cloth or sponge to remove any dirt or debris from the exterior of your grill. Rinse with clean water when you're finished and dry with a clean towel or cloth. congratulations! Your outdoor portable grill is now sparkling clean and ready for action!
